Thought Leaders, policy experts, business tycoons to debate on “Advantage India” at India Leadership Conclave 2016

Thought Leaders, policy experts, business tycoons to debate on “Advantage India” at India Leadership Conclave 2016

7th Annual India Leadership Conclave 2016 set to revisit India’s growth trajectory & missed opportunities by world-class speakers

India Leadership Conclave 2016 aims to catalyze new debates and discussions, throw up creative ideas and discover pathways that will hopefully shape the progress of not just India and Asia but of all who are invested in and engaged with Asia and with India. For some time now, as the Indian growth story gained momentum, the absence of a truly global platform was missing. The 7th edition of Network 7 Media Group’s India Leadership Conclave & Indian Affairs Business Leadership Awards 2016 therefore will supply  the much needed oxygen  for bringing into these conversations a uniquely Indian dimension that could help locate these within an Indian paradigm and with an Asian ethos. The objective of the conclave is not only to filter the diverse ideas & bring out the best but to scan the progress of growth, developments & decay. World today is much more complicated than it was in the last two decades as terrorism have hindered the process of peace & prosperity & more & more intolerant voices are emerging to challenge the establishment, it is in this context India Leadership Conclave will be debating on the advantages of india of being the right time to accelerate the reforms process & grow.  More than 300 iconic leaders, Policy Makers, Rebel Leaders & Social Entrepreneurs are expected to attend the iconic Conclave on 24th June in Mumbai where the major thrust is given on the booming start up india which is making noise both in the country & abroad said Satya Brahma, Chairman & Editor-In-Chief of Network 7 Media Group.

Announcing the theme of the 7th annual editions of the India Leadership Conclave, Satya Brahma, Founder Chairman of the India Leadership Conclave stated that “India’s population in next decade will be somewhere at 1.5 billion people. By 2030, China will likely be the world’s largest economy by purchasing-power parity, with the United States second and India third. And, Yet the size of India’s middle class is expected to surpass that of both the United States and China, due to its fast-growing population. In 2030, India alone will account for 23 percent of middle-class spending globally (nearly $13 trillion a year!). Therefore “Advantage India: It is now or Never!” is the right dose for the current scenario at a time when india is being hailed worldwide as the most preferred place to invest & do business with.

India to the world today is a big hope & to the investors & companies a place to invest & do business despite many detriments in domestic grounds, be it slow progress of systemic reforms & excessive engagements with politics & political issues. While the external environments are still hostile outside the country, India continues to perform better & remain the favorites for the west. Let’s not also forget, India today is on the threshold of economic progress & many hail india’s journey today as the beginning of economic progress & prosperity. So certainly it is Advantage India: It is now or Never!

The ability of this huge and poor nation to sustain a lively democracy has been among the world’s political wonders. Yet its economic performance has fallen short of what it might have been. Despite improvements in policy and performance since the crisis of 1991, this remains the case. When the government came to power, the economy was suffering from rapid consumer price inflation and sizeable fiscal deficits. Helped by falling oil prices, the former is down from above 10 per cent in 2013 to below 6 per cent. The central government’s fiscal deficit is forecast to fall from 4.5 per cent of gross domestic product in 2013–14 (April to March) to 3.5 per cent next year. The economy grew only 5.3 per cent in 2012–13. This is forecast to reach 7.5 per cent in 2015–16. The Ministry of Finance’s latest Economic Survey forecasts growth at between 7 per cent and 7.75 per cent next year, albeit with downside risks. This would not be stellar by India’s standards. But it would be stellar by those of the world.India is poised for a turnaround,. If we look, the twin deficits are under control, inflation is under control, we have reasons to believe that we would think that growing at 7.5 per cent with aspiration for 8.5 .One of the challenges the government is facing is in securing investment as Public Sector Banks and private sector banks grapple with the problem of weak balance sheets and dealing with bad loans. The economic outlook in India remains the strongest in the world at 86% expecting economic expansion compared to United States (73%), Canada (63%), Mexico (79%), Argentina (73%), United Kingdom (75%), China (58%), Singapore (60%) and Australia (64%) 100 per cent of respondents in India expect their companies to increase total spending and investment with 80% expect increase of 10% or more against global average of 87% and 49% respectively The global average increase in spending and investment levels has risen to 12%, compared to last year’s 11% – India leading with 18% followed by Mexico (16%) and the US (14%) Security of business (47%) and growth opportunities (43%) are clear priorities for obtaining funding for India finance leaders like their global peers for optimizing cash flow Indian executives are most confident on growth plans when compared with their international peers.  The 2016 American Express/CFO Research Global Business and Spending Monitor, an annual survey of global finance Leaders, found that 86% of Indian respondents are expecting the economy to grow next year. Additionally, 90% of Indian executives polled say company’s growth will depend more on exports over the next year as compared to the previous year.It is noteworthy that India is leading the way in terms of both business confidence and investments. As expected, owing to the prevailing uncertain economic environment globally, most companies are cautious about spending and investments. The focus is on optimizing cash flow and using it judiciously to grow and protect the business. Broadly, the game plan seems to be focused on reducing the risk exposure by focusing more on domestic markets, along with increased investment in sales and marketing activities, risk management and security, and adding capacity for production or service delivery. Corporations worldwide see technology as an important aspect for their businesses, thereby spending on information security is among their top priorities.

World Healthcare Leaders set to redefine Healthcare Reforms at 8th Annual Pharmaceutical Leadership Summit &Pharmaleaders Business Leadership Awards 2015

Tuesday,17th November 2015, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The healthcare industry is in the midst of a turbulent global transformation. Healthcare reform policy &  fiscal restraint are some of the biggest challenges  on the minds of politicians, the media and business leaders around the world. The stage is set for a larger consolidation of the pharma sector in india valued at approx 93,000 Crore (INR)  market with a significant presence &  impact in the world. It is evident that the healthcare costs around the world are increasing. In 2013, the total global healthcare spend was $7.2 trillion, or about 11 percent of the world’s gross domestic product. This figure is set to climb more than 5 percent a year for the next few years. In the U.S., costs are expected to rise to $4.8 trillion by 2021& in india however, the situation is complex as india is yet to make landslide healthcare reforms. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who swept to power at elections last year in May, promised in his poll manifesto to introduce an ambitious universal health care plan that assures free drugs and insurance for serious ailments. But the plan, pegged initially at $26 billion over the next four years and envisioned to be fully operational by 2019, has been pushed back because of budget constraints. Busy with political arithmetic’s, the plan may take a back stage making the cost of the healthcare spending by the poor a toll as 70% of the expenses are still going from the pockets of the common man making life much miserable. To add to the woes are the challenges of the drug companies who are facing the heat of the regulators as ncreasing number of Indian pharmaceutical firms have come under the knife of US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) due to lack of trained staff and cleanliness at their manufacturing units. Against the backdrop of the above summary, Pharmaleaders, Asia’s most analytical news media in healthcare communication is hosting its 8th edition in Mumbai on Wednesday, the 30th December 2015 under the theme “Brand India Winning “at the 8th Annual Pharmaceutical Leadership Summit & Pharma Leaders Business Leadership Awards 2015.

Widely perceived by the industry Leaders, Healthcare Professionals, Policy Makers, Pharma Leaders 2015 edition too will have a significant brand thrust in view of india’s rising power as a top destination for quality manufacturing, research & generic drugs. Announcing the 8th edition of Pharmaleaders Summit & Awards, Satya Brahma, Chairman & Editor-In-Chief of Pharma Leaders said ” Pharma Leaders 2015 theme will deliberate on Brand India & its winning spirit as a global power, growing at a growth rate of 13 to 14th % per Annum, the Pharmaceutical Market in India is ranked 3rd in terms of volume and 10th in terms of market value & clearly the industry is showing the signs for a bigger space in the world market. India@58 is the theme at 6th Annual India Leadership Conclave & Indian Affairs Business Leadership Awards 2015

The Annual Leadership Conclave to debate Nation’s burning issues from world leaders, industry icons, Politicians, movie stars, rebels, peacemakers and social activists at Indian Affairs Conclave.

Sunday,10th May 2015, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The much awaited & Asia’s biggest meeting point for thought leadership conclave organized by Network 7 Media Group’s initiative from the nation’s most widely acclaimed news media India Affairs will host its 6th edition under the theme “India @ 58” : Learning Lessons From The Past And Restrategizing For The Future” at the  6th Annual India Leadership Conclave & Indian Affairs Business Leadership Awards 2015 in Mumbai, India on Friday, the 21st August 2015 where top leaders from the various sections of the society will assemble to make an analysis of India’s journey from independence & the important milestones that the country has achieved since last 58 years & the areas where India has remained silent & unmoved & has given a big miss. Currently in its 6th year since the last five successful editions held annually uninterruptedly in key states of the country where the platform evoked great degree of interest & made headlines, the Conclave will be debated & discussed by the speakers of eminence from the world leaders, industry icons, Politicians, movie stars, rebels, peacemakers and social activists. The Grand Annual Affair of Indian Affairs Conclave has been a sold out event & attendance from over 350 delegates coming from india & across the globe. India Leadership Conclave & Indian Affairs Business Leadership Awards 2015 is also keenly a awaited platform for its power brand awards called ILC Power BrandsFrom business to politics, cinema to sports & public service to social service, ILC Power Brand Awards are the most coveted prestigious & credible awards by an eminent panel of jury members, conferred to top leaders of the country. Iconic leaders like Ratan Tata, Mukesh Ambani, late former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, Priyanka Chopra, Kiran Mazumdar shaw, Narayan Murthy are few of the names who are the recipients of the awards in various categories.

Announcing the 6th edition of Indian Affairs India Leadership Conclave 2015, Satya Brahma, Chairman & Editor-In-Chief of Network 7 Media Group said “ The theme of the conclave “India @58” is a timely & an aptly subject as 58 years of india’s freedom from the British rule, the momentous march of india to be a self reliant state & a bigger force in the world has been a subject of discussion to many as history is repeated time & again of what India has achieved & missed. The debate is no longer to address on what india could possibly do in near future to emerge as a world Leader in the presence of total 196 countries but to introspect what india missed & the opportunities it lost for lack either of political will or merely an inability to compete & sustain as a emerging super power, the conclave’s aim is  to focus on grey areas as well as red areas by the top leaders of the country. In a nation of 1.2 billion populations, India is still confronting the growing dissenting voices on cultural extremism, religious intolerance, terrorism, and decay in progress to tackle Maoist & Naxalite forces & even introspecting the historical blunders it committed over the last five decades. As a Nation, India has its own complex issues like any other country in dealing with healthcare affordability, unemployment, literacy, poverty, growing voices to free Indian system from the shackles of corruption, nepotism, redtapism & vip culture, but India seems to be heading for a momentous & historical reincarnation as the power of India as a bigger force both as a vibrant democracy & a resurgent economy. India is still to find a place in United Nation as a permanent member  & dispel the forces that make india as a two states, one for affluent sections of the society & the other for a bigger chunk of population where roti, kapda & makan is still a realty. Scams after scams has paralyzed Indian growth & economy as power brokers continue to call the shots depriving the voices of million masses, it is time for India to discuss the roadmap for future, said Satya Brahma, Chairman of the 6th Annual India Leadership Conclave & Indian Affairs business Leadership Awards 2015.

More than 300 industry leaders, diplomats, policy makers, social activists, business tycoons, rebel leaders are expected to attend the much awaited annual affair including delegates from the middle east, Europe & asean countries. Pharmaleaders Visionary Pharma Entrepreneur 2014 Awardee Dilip Surana led Microlabs aims $1 billion mark by 2016

Pharmaleaders Visionary Pharma Entrepreneur 2014 Awardee Dilip Surana led  Microlabs  aims $1 billion mark by 2016

Bangalore based Top Pharma Major Microlabs known as Dolo Maker plans to scale new heights under Dilip Surana’s Visionary & Commanding Leadership, Dilip Surana to receive “Visionary Entrepreneur of the Year Award” at Pharma Leaders 2014 Historic Meet

Dilip Surana

Sunday,7th December 2014, Mumbai, Maharashtra : It is widely believed that the consolidations in the Indian pharma sector is likely to continue, particularly among generic drug players and will drive shareholder value going forward.India-based pharmaceutical companies have majorly been absent from much of the recent M&A activities, partly because of their healthy growth outlooks. The global pharmaceutical industry will continue to undergo a pace of rapid consolidation to drive shareholder value; particularly in the case of companies seeking new growth platforms, against the backdrop of patent expirations. With many drugs going off patent in the US, Indian pharma companies would continue to experience strong growth in American market, indian pharma companies would continue to experience strong growth in the US over the medium-term. This would be driven by the sizable generic opportunity (drugs with brand value of $25-30 billion are expected to face generic competition) over the next 2-3 years.

As one of the recently industrialized nations, India has a fast-growing economy as well as an ever-expanding, ever-urbanized population, however its healthcare system still has a lot of potential for development. To Western readers, analyzing a healthcare system in the East seems daunting. It takes some of us decades to master an understanding of the healthcare system of our origin country. Nevertheless, there are several methods to approaching another country’s system. These include the exposition of some invariant principles that apply across various contexts, the application of existing frameworks for healthcare system analysis, appraisal of the major transitions underway in the country, and an analysis of the country’s public health issues. India faces challenges in pursuing each of these goals. With regards to cost, at least 70% of all healthcare is frequently financed out-of-pocket by the population. There is little health insurance or other forms of risk pooling, little regulation and accountability of providers, and a predominance of fee-for-service payment, all of which are associated with high costs. There is also questionable efficiency of much of the state healthcare system, and a great distrust of the public sector. Against the backdrop of the above challenges, Pharmaleaders has lined up top industry experts, Pharma Academia, Ministry Officials, Government Representative, Policy Makers & Medical Professionals under one platform both in india & abroad to debate & deliberate the complex issues of the industry & give a meaningful discussion on the Brand India & Make In India concept. More than 300 professionals will be participating the mega event where professionals from Middle East, Africa, Europe, Lation America will also be attending. The historic 7th Annual Pharmaceutical Leadership Summit & Business Leadership Awards 2014 to be held in a uniquely positioned full day program encompassing two themes “Make In India – Healthcare Reforms , Insurance,Innovations,Investments & Infrastructure” & Empowering India’s Developing Healthcare System – Investing the Healthcare Solutions of Tomorrow in difficult Times at the Sahara Star, Mumbai International Airport in Mumbai, India, on December,26th , 2014. This  historic Summit is supported by the Government of India at the Centre & is actively supported  by the Ministry of Health &  Family Affairs, Govt of India, Ministry of Commerce Pharmaceuticals , Government of india & host of other trade bodies.

Commenting on the Award Selection to Dilip Surana as “Visionary Entrepreneur of the Year Award” at pharmaleaders 7thAward Night, Satya Brahma, Chairman & Editor-In-Chief of Network 7 Media Group said  “Pharma Leaders™ , asia’s biggest media in healthcare communications in association with Network 7 Media Group undertook the gigantic task of identifying the Leader in Healthcare Innovations as it has been doing for years. The Primary factor that propelled the Jury is to look at the forward looking vision of the company coupled with the risk taking abilities & the visionary Leadership of steering the company in the complex business of healthcare where each day we are witnessing new competition, bigger challenges & ability to stay ahead of competition. With a modest beginning as a pharmaceutical distributor in 1973 by Dilip Surana’s late father Shri G.C.Surana, the meteoric rise of Microlabs as a Leading player in pharmaceutical business with a formidable basket of top products enjoying the strong patronage of medical doctors can be attributed to the fact that how Dilip spearheaded the strategy to make it big. Today Microlab  is ranked among the top 20 pharma companies in the country.Indeed Microlabs has become one of the top 5 pharma players in the diabetes sector in India. Hailing from a village near Jodhpur in Rajasthan, the low profile Dilip Surana together with brother Anand Surana have propelled the growth engine with tremendous speed & dedicated mindset & your initiatives in the social sector is also a case to reckon with as Dilip’s efforts to help the marginalized sections of the society is a sign of a true global Leader. Dr. Chandrasekar Chikkamuniyappa said  “We wanted to take a moment to extend our most sincere thanks for choosing us in two award winning categories & The award distinguishes our hospitals and me as one with a real commitment to reach our Mission and Vision in highest potential. This award is a beautiful way to spread our message to the world.Once again Thank you so much; we will do our best to represent our hospital according to the standards this award represents.”. Dr Chandrasekhar further stated that “Healthcare reforms in India need significant experimentation and innovation to determine what would work, we cannot really look at other country’s models as our situation, scenario and problems are unique to us. Nowhere in the world is a country with a billion people with an urgent need for quality healthcare. We have limited resources, a fragmented delivery system with a huge variation in practises and guidelines across board, loss of public trust in healthcare providers.  Infact India has very limited public funding for healthcare for a country with a huge disease burden.”

India wants to obtain universal health coverage by 2022. India aspiring to be the next big super power definitely needs to ramp up the healthcare system by enforcing several reforms keeping the following in mind:

  • There is an urgent need to bring back patient focussed care back to centre stage
  • Innovation, community participation, public private partnership(PPP) model, most essential at the moment
  • State owned secondary and tertiary level care hospitals must either be privatized/outsourced or at least be managed by PPP model, however providing free/subsidized care for the poor must be continued at these facilities.
  • Greater Insurance penetration, State sponsored micro and macro health insurance systems can help to a great extent.
  • Cost transparency, information transparency along with awareness creation and health education of the masses can certainly help create a new health care revolution in India.
  • Medical Tourism must help hospitals cross subsidize our own patients.
  • Whatever it is providing quality care to 1.2+ billion people is going to be a challenge in any case. As there is no such example anywhere in the world, the innovative solutions have to stem out of our community & Country.
  • Charity has to become part and parcel of every healthcare establishment, As much as 50 % of the care provided must as free for the poor. At the same time we must remember that it is not just the ‘Haves’ and ‘have not’s’ but there is a huge population of “does not have enough” who will need subsidized treatments
  • “Stay In India” or “Back To India” should become the slogan for the next decade, All the doctors, nurses, paramedical personnel must be inspired to Stay in India or come back to India.

The Story of PEOPLETREE HOSPITALS is quite a fascinating one – A group of doctors (friends from college days) come together and dream of a hospital that is purely patient focused, doctor driven and peer respected. This small group had one thing in common – they were all from humble middle class backgrounds with extra-ordinary skill sets; trained in some of the best hospitals across the globe and all hungry to transform the current health care situation. Their dream required lots of money which they never had! They left their jobs and dared to venture. Their sheer conviction and commitment, made a plausibly impossible task possible. Today PEOPLE TREE Hospitals is a reality.

Here are some statistics – Total Number of patients seen is over 27000 within 8 months of full operations – Current average foot falls per day is over 200 patients achieved in Oct ‘14. – Crossed 100 In patients (IPD) discharged in April (within 2 full months of operations)- 141% growth in IPD patients discharged in Oct ‘14 vis-à-vis Apr ‘14. -Average month on month growth of 19.4%in the last 7 months. But probably the most positive reinforcement is in the feedback from patients about the unique treatment experience the hospital offers. PEOPLE TREE Friends say that this is just a proof of concept, once this project becomes successful and sustainable – the vision is to spread across tier two cities to make quality health care accessible & affordable to each & every one. Their model of creating an Infosys in Healthcare by making everyone a stake holder in the company is probably the right model for our country. Health Care Transformation has indeed begun!

The PEOPLE TREE Foundation (www.peopletreefoundation.in) –PEOPLE TREE friends did not stop at creating a world class healthcare facility, but quickly realized that if we ever have to touch move and inspire a billion People by providing quality Health, Education & Health Education, there has to be a charitable angle to it. Hence came the PEOPLE TREE Foundation, a unique non-profit organization committed to realize the dream of a disease and disability free India.  The Foundation aims to provide services spanning the fields of Health, education & Health Education. This Charity wing has recently launched its most ambitious ‘PEOPLE TOUCH’ Program through which 100 complex surgeries will be done completely free of cost for 100 poor and deserving patients in 100 days.  The estimated cost of these surgeries is approximately one crore rupees. If this becomes successful they hope to extend it to conduct free surgeries every day and some day in the future they wish to conduct 50% of the surgeries for free on a perpetual basis. The foundation also supporting free education or poor children.
